103 JALAN PINTAU

CORNER TERRACE
COMPLETED 2017

This 1960s house off Upper Thomson Road was bought by the clients 8 years prior to deciding to rebuild. They had originally intended to completely tear down the two-storey, three bedroom house and build their dream home but then opted for an A&A instead. The resulting structure is a sophisticated three- storey residence, augmented by an attic and a rooftop terrace, boasting six bedrooms and six bathrooms to accommodate their growing family.

The main distinguishing feature of the property is its striking asymmetrical concrete “cap” that juts out over the two lower floors. The façade is a tribute the brutalist style, the façade initially envisioned a bolder statement but was refined to adhere to local building regulations while maintaining its distinctive
character.

Water features were added to the living room area and outdoors along the side of the house to provide therapeutic effect and expansive sliding glass doors on the ground floor help give the narrow living and dining space a sense of openness.

The interior design emphasizes minimalism, deliberately opting for a sparsely furnished approach to maximize open areas and facilitate unrestricted movement, ideal for the children's play.

Adding to the home’s accessibility and convenience, a lift was installed, ensuring easy travel between all levels while accommodating future mobility needs.

Ultimately, this residence not only fulfills the practical demands of a growing family but also elevates everyday living through its thoughtful design choices and meticulous execution.
